If you have a serious medical problem such as chest pain, severe bleeding or collapse please dial 999 and ask for an ambulance.

The surgery now operates a telephone based triage system for all requests for a GP appointment. The receptionist will check your contact details and ask for a brief outline of the problem. This is to improve the efficiency of the triage system but if you do not feel comfortable informing the receptionist of the reason for the appointment please do say that it is a private matter. The Doctor or Advanced Nurse Practitioner will call you back to discuss your problem in more detail and can arrange an appointment to be seen face to face, if this is necessary. Not all problems need to be dealt with by a GP and so you may be signposted to the Common Ailments Scheme at the Pharmacy or an appointment with the Advanced Nurse Practitioners for example. Those patients who need to see a Doctor will be seen.

E-Consult is an electronic based consultation and can be accessed via the home page. This option is not suitable for every condition.

Home Visits are for those who are housebound only. The Doctor can see many more patients in the surgery than at home. The Doctor or ANP may telephone you to assess if a visit is necessary. Transport problems are not a reason for a home visit.

The surgery opens at 8am and phone calls are placed in a queue system and answered as soon as the receptionist is able. The reception closes for lunch between 1-2pm in emergencies only please phone the surgery mobile on 07935161017. This number should also be used between 6-6:30 in the evening but in emergencies only. Do not leave a message on the mobile as this answering service is not monitored.

The Out Of Hours GP can be accessed by calling NHS Wales on 111 and  should be used between 6:30pm and 8am.

General information and advice is available 24 hours a day via NHS 111 Wales

If you need urgent out-of-hours dental care, please call NHS 111 Wales to make an appointment at one of their special clinics

Appointments with the Nurses or Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) are all available in advance. Please note that sometimes the receptionist may enquire about the nature of the appointment as this allows allocation of the correct amount of time for the appointment. If you are unhappy about disclosing the reason for the appointment please simply state that it is for a private matter and your privacy will be respected. Our Practice Nurses are happy to take telephone calls from patients and aim to return your call as soon as possible but this is likely to be after morning surgery finishes after 12 midday.

Appointments with Midwives, Health Visitors and Community Nurses should be made directly and not via the Surgery. Phone numbers available on the ‘contact us’ page.

Please note, Rhostyllen Surgery is a branch surgery and has shorter opening hours.

During the Coronavirus pandemic we are strictly limiting the number of face to face, in surgery, appointments wherever possible. This is for the safety of yourself, other patients and the staff.

All patients requesting an appointment will be triaged via telephone. Do not attend the surgery unless instructed to do so by a member of staff.

We will be offering more telephone and online consultations where appropriate and safe to do so. Utilising Skype may also be an option with some of the clinical staff.
